Broken banana

Post by Kansas » Sat Aug 19, 2006 6:43 am

last night we had a damn good storm. the wind knocked over my potted coconut. When it fell, it hit my banana and broke the banana about 1 1/2' up from the base. It is not flopping, but it is dmaged to where it now leans.
Should I cut it down to past the break, or should I leave it?

That sucks, every time a storm comes near my house I'm at the window watching my bananas hoping the wind won't rip them to shreds. I have been VERY lucky this year and have only been hit by 1 T-strom, but dozens have past a few kilometres to the north. I would stake it up and take off what turns brown since there is only a couple months of growing left. If its green leave it. Good Luck!
