Photos of Vernon BC (North Okanagan) Canada

Despite hazy sky, a good day for a drive (the dog wanted to go)

"the northern tip of Canada's only desert"...you don't need a compass here. If the hill is brown, it's facing south or west. If there are thick forests and abundant growth, the hill is facing north or east...or you're on lakefrontage ($$$$$$$). Dead hillsides are cheaper to buy than green hillsides, LOL.

About 5 minutes from downtown Vernon, subdivisions border Kalamalka Lake. These 4 pics show approx 200-degree view along the lake.

The next three pics show the interesting landforms left by retreating glaciers...you know...when Washington and Oregon got all our topsoil, ha ha.

I live at the base of the brown hill in the following pic: hotter and drier than a firecracker in the summer, and BRRRRRR cold in winter from the open terrain.

Happy dog after the drive...

Got home in time to see a big black bear in a tree across the road....

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Beautiful photographs.
It also helps me visualize where you live. Perhaps all of us should make a photo series showing their local landscape.
As for the bear, neat! They are making a come-back here in Oklahoma. None in my neck of the woods yet, but it won't be long. --Erik
