Do you cut the old flushes?

Post by Kansas » Sat Jul 29, 2006 6:19 am

After my King's flushed some the most beautiful flushes EVER on them this year, I was wondering, do I cut the old ones off?
The new ones are very high and stretch almost straight up to the sky. The old ones droop way down. Also some of the old ones have yellow leaves (from not enough sun in the winter).

I leave them on....

Until they are completely yellowed, then cut close to the caudex.

Really it is just a cosmetic concern, The old growth will eventually turn yellow and die off. As long as it has some green in it it is still providing energy to the plant.
