Where would someone buy heating cables from? Would a garden nursery have them or is it something you would have to order online? Is there a specific brand to get? Any info would be appreciated.

I work for an electrical wholesaler and we sell them. I am checking into what type would work best. I am not sure what to get yet so I am going to talk to one of my suppliers and get him to figure it out for me. When I hear back from him I will let you know.

Cheap Heating Cables
Hi everyone:
In the plumbing section of most hardware or home centers (at least in areas that have hard freezes, like Wisconsin) you will find heating cables for pipes (prevents pipes from freezing). I bought a six foot cable for about $16. Most of these cables have an internal thermostat that turns on automatically at about 35F.
There are also larger sizes available. When I am fortunate enough to have a trunking palm, I'm planning to wrap the trunk with the heating cable, then cover with bubble wrap.
I havn't figured out how to protect the crown. Any ideas?

I have often wanted to try a plumbing heating cable. Has anyone out there tried this? It sounds like a very good idea Estiva has! I really like the idea of the bubble wrap over the cable
