Drooping Musa

Post by Kansas » Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:11 pm

My two Musa I bought on Friday, I watered them both Friday night, and again today (Sunday) and today set them outside. I noticed that on one especially, they curled down and were harder than usual. Now they are really droopy. Is this normal after first sunning and a little cooler than inside temps???

The leaves usually droop when in direct hot sun. They should perk back up for you. :D

These are amazing bananas. The only thing I would worry about in your area is the heat. They do not like alot of high heat. Make sure it is well watered. If you want to keep the trunk alive in winter wrap it in bubble wrap when it starts to get cold. If the trunk does get fried it will come up from the roots again. They are very hardy.
Watch out for wind exposed area too. The wind will rip the leaves..

I agree with Wes, the Basjoos are amazing but try to protect it from strong winds as the leaves shred easily.

I still have not put them out yet
I love them so much that I hate to risk it with the storms we have been getting.
I can tell the new leave, the ones that are wrapped, are getting bigger every day. I already have had one fling open in the less than week I have had them.
I think I may go ahead and pot up the Robusta outside thou, what do you think?
