Stangeria eriopus

This is a small Cycad from the eastern coastal areas of South Africa.

Here's the seeds, hoping to have some luck with them, will post the results!

First germination about 3 weeks later 8)
(after a two day heated soak, held in Perlite between 85* - 95*F)

Out of two seeds, one germinated.
(The other was a floater when received, it sank after soaking for a couple days, but all it ended up growing was mold :|

The first frond stalled out, changed the potting mix to something it liked & away we go :D

Thanks Barb, Been waiting a couple years for Stangeria seed to be available (at least to where I could afford a couple :lol:

For germination, I've been using the converted mini fridge almost exclusively, It provides a nice even temp with no hot spots. (going to try and build a full size one this winter)

Likely a lot more room in the fridge than the dry-bath. :wink:
