Post by hardyjim »

Well with the weather finally looking good through the next ten days,I decided to put thr bananas out today,it was not my original idea to plant them but I really did not want to move them around and try to get them used to the sun first, most of the leaves usually break on the first windy day anyway after being in inside all winter. Here are some pics of the yard today and heres the list of what I planted today-B.eriospatha,3 of 6 banana plants,Tetrapanex,Mexican fern tree,9 Canna Picasso,2 Canna Stuttgart,3 S.louisiana,4 strawberry plants, anyway you get the point, here are the pics -

Looks good, hope they do well this season!

Planted out a contorted filbert yesterday, going to wait another week before the Palms & Yuccas go in.

That'll be one stunning yard in a month or two!

Is the Mexican tree fern new?

Glad your temps are good...
Bet you were in your glory planting them. :D

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Mike,I did have one out there last year that I thought of overwintering but i dug it up last fall,I did replant it this weekend,so,it's back in buisness.
I had 2 A.americana in the cactus bed that were supposed to have been Parryi, they were damaged this winter so I removed them and planted a real Parryi and a A.havardiana

Jim those bananas should be at least as tall as your second floor by the end of Oct.What type of naners you planting it`s hard to tell from the pics? I would like to see how the B. eriospatha and S. louisiana fair this winter as well as your other palms under protection.
