CRIMINAL! Old "new" tires

Post by lucky1 » Sun Nov 23, 2008 1:51 pm

Man oh man, people's lives are at stake.

Watch this video (it kicks in automatically after the 30-second commercial).

Un-bloody-believable what goes on in the corporate world.

I saw the original airing of that program. It's difficult to say what percentage of auto accidents are a direct result of tire failure from old tires, I'd wager a very small part really. However, there should be some safeguards against selling old tires as new.

Cheers, Barrie.

Everybody should check the numerical code on their tires.
And raise hell if they're older than 4 years.

I used to make sure that the tires on my vehicles were changed every 5 years. I had a truck that didn't travel 10,000 km per year and a convertible that seldom made 5,000 km per year. They would weather check before the tread wore out.

Now our vehicle travels over 20,000 km/yr and the tread wears down in 4 years or less.

It would be a good idea to require a 5 yr expiry date.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
