Nice Washingtonia ! I'd guess they're far scarer in the SE than out west, with Sabal being the dominant genus.

Cheers, Barrie.

Thanks. Barrie they are pretty common here. Every nursery sells them. They are shipped in on trucks with as much as 20 ft of trunk. There are actually two in that photo, the one on the right is just hidden behind the flying dragon (Which is about 8 ft tall). I grew these from seed, they are 5 years old. Sabal is the state tree, but I would guess there are as many Washingtonias & Butias as there are Sabals...

That's interesting Todd. For some reason I got the impression that Washingtonia where somewhat more of a palm only grown by enthusiasts in the SE. Not sure how I got that in my head!?
I did notice the second one in the photo but what others have ya got in that planting circle?

Cheers, Barrie.

Ha you had to ask... In the circle are the two Washingtonias, two Sabal palmettos, Chamaerops humilis, cactus, Centennial kumquat, flying dragon, Ruby red grapefruit, Changshou kumquat, Papaya, Chamaedorea radicalis. Outside the ring in front are a bunch of seedling silver saw palms and a hybrid cycad at each end...
