SW Ontario Palms

Post by Palm Fan » Fri Jun 27, 2008 9:19 pm

My neighbour just planted these palms in the ground (not in pots) this week. According to the landscaper he spent more than $15 thousand. This is in SW Ontario in zone 5b to 6b. He apparently wants to sell his house and thinks this will attract potential buyers. There are approximately 7 palms in his front yard and will all likely be dead by November!

Where in ontario? I am in SW ontario. Those are beautiful palms but have no chance past november. There is a place that will put those palms in the ground and then they come dig them up and store them in fall, maybe thats what your neighbor did, I cant see anyone killing all those beautiful palms.

The old saying "more money than brains" comes to mind here.

Cheers, Barrie.

This is in London Ontario. Apparently he has no plans to have the palms removed for winter. The landscaper said he hated to plant them knowing
that they would die. Now this guy is somewhat eccentric. He has the most elaborate Halloween display that you could ever see. I'm going to tell him that I will take that pygmy date palm off his hands!

I'll make the 2 1/2 drive in the fall to help scoop up some of them.

Too bad we can't get him to come online just to find out what he is thinking.
Thanks
Phil
