Dean, It's fascinating how fruit from subsequent blooms matures while the first is still ripening!
How old is it?
Interesting excerpt from Wikipedia:
Kumquats readily hybridise with other members of the genus Citrus and with the closely related Poncirus. These hybrids are known as Citrofortunella; examples include the limequat, orangequat, and calamondin.
My Calamondin (apart from having fewer leaves) is similar to your Kumquat!

Does your Kumquat grow in winter too? The twin Calamondins from one pot that I separated
are putting on new growth in the cold building

Fruit doesn't fall off my calamondin...just hangs there and eventually shrivels up.
Yours is healthy indeed for a 2 year old.
Can't wait til the next blossom time...the fragrance is breathtaking!
I have a child's small paintbrush that I use to brush pollen from flower to flower
just to get things going in case there are no insects around.
