Cordyline's

Post by desertdave » Sat Feb 04, 2006 11:47 pm

I am considering trying to grow a Cordyline australis, but know very little about them except that it will probably not take the winters here. How cold hardy are they (i.e. when would I likely have to bring them in), and how well do they take to pots?

Cordyline australis

C.australis are roughly hardy to approx. -8 C. or 17.6 F. Duration of the freeze also makes a difference. I was in a garden today where there some nice 20'ft specimens with large crowns. I have them all over my garden. They are so cheap to buy so it is no big deal if they freeze back. They are perrenial so they always come back. Cheers, Joe
