W.filifera seeds

Post by macario » Thu Apr 19, 2007 5:09 pm

Hello I have been busy lately and not on the board much, but if you remeber I brought back over 1000 pure W.filifera seeds from Nevada. If any of you want seeds I will give them free, just pay for postage.

Thats great! I look forward to seeing some pics!! Those bad boys were dieing for water. What did you plant them in? Im gonna plant some directly in the ground and build some crazy cover for them. Like I said have probably more than 1000 now that I think about it. I dont want them to go to waste. So just say the word and you all can have some too.

I just put them in some 50/50 peat/perlite and dampened. Then I prefer the plastic container over the baggie. SO I put them in a container and put on heat.

How was the germination rate of the trachycarpus seeds I sent you?

Slow, but they are starting to pop now. I notice some will push the seed up out of the soil & then flop over and die.

I have never had any of mine do that. I wonder if you need more soil in your baggie. I put a fair amount in mine.
Sorry just can't think of what else it might be.

No baggie. They are in containers. Maybe I didn't plant some deep enough.

I used to have that problem until I started planting at a different depth.
I used to just throw them in afte putting the container half full of medium. They would do exactly that Laaz. Then I started to put 95% of the medium in the container and then throw the seeds in, then barely sprinkle enough medium to barely cover the seeds. Since doing it that way, I have not lost one due to that.
