Four years in ground, don't fertilize besides dumping buckets of water on them that contains dirty pond water after I clean out the filters for the waterfalls.

Wow too cool! I think they like where they are! How are the fruit progressing?
Looks like the wind has been kind to them, you probably have two more good months of growing, right? Wonder what they'll top out at? Mine hit 14' (leaf tip, not pstem) on about their third year. Then I moved them, then we got nailed with 2 of the hottest summers in memory.

These ara close to that now I think. Fruit is doing great. We will get a frost about mid November probably and then a freeze shortly thereafter.

Front garden

Post by TerdalFarm » Fri Aug 09, 2013 8:21 pm

W and I visited Sid this week. His garden is MUCH better in person than his modest photos suggest!

I'll share a few of my snapshots here on his thread.

Front garden. Looks amazing as you approach from the street.

Yes, that backyard banana is amazing!

Here are a few more from the backyard:

Another of that banana, with my dog Boki in it:

A huge fig:

Fertilizer factory:

And in the side yard, those queen palms that we hear about on this forum about going in for the winter. Upstairs!

A risky idea for the queen palms is to take them to the cottage, plant them right up against the south wall and use active protection in the winter.
