Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Yes...barely. He was moving around so much I could hardly focus with one hand. The other one I am holding, my wife took. :D

Great pic, Aaron.

I'd be shaking so hard, there'd be no photo at all.

Impressive! 99% of my snake photos have the head out of focus as they move so fast. I took some decent photos of a copperhead the other week only because a sympathetic herpetologist caught, kept it overnight in the cold, and set it down on the ground for me to take pictures of.

I hear ya, the only reason I caught them is so they would not leave until I could get my camera. Normaly I don't want to bother them. :D

Gopher snake, the western cousin too the bullsnake. When I was a kid (oh god here we go) we caught one over 8 feet long. But my personal best has been 6 feet. 8)

Thanks, :D

This one my wife called me on her cell, "come get this snake out of the road so I can get home" Sence it took both hands to hold...she had to take the pic. Out of the 4-5 pics she took this is the only one that was in focus.

He'd better not RACE over those rough rocks, or his belly won't be yellow.

Wonder if I'll see the Rubber Boa here again this summer.

What a prize, if you have rubber boas in your area it is almost a sure bet you have western skinks in your area. I have one or two sninks in my yard, but have yet to see a rubber boa here. :D

I completely forgot rubber boas make it in BC.... I know some people who raised some as pets.

When I was in Calgary, I managed the fish/reptile dept at a pet store. A lady came in one day and we got talking about snakes. For those of you who arent familiar with calgarys climate, picture Aarons, but more unpredictable, and by the books, colder.

We got on the topic of Cali kings, and we got to talking about how well they escape from enclosures. She told me her 5 yr old snake got out, and she didnt see it all summer. We had a relatively cold winter that year, and to her surprise in march, she found it poping out of the ground next to her foundation - fat, healthy and alive! True survivors!

The best was getting a call from the fire department, and having them tell me "we found a komoto dragon, we need to bring it in". Besides me going (wait, what the hell....), I had no idea what they were talkin about. Turns out a ladys savannah monitor escaped a few months before that, and the fire dept found him basking in a bike path, all chilled out.
