Curious if anyone knows what these are, thinking some sort of paper wasp?

Its a paper wasp. I'm not what the exact species is (maybe Polistes annularis?).

Thanks, Polistes annularis seems like a good match.
(better than I've come up with)

Thankfully, they seem non aggressive, when I'm out watering they will land on my hands trying to get to the water :D

I saw a mud dauber about 3 weeks ago, very unusual to see around these parts, but not totally unheard of. If it does make it through to winter, winter will almost definitely kill it off, unless it finds a house.

Last winter we were down to -7/-21C, and they were out first thing in the spring.
There must be a good size nest around here somewhere (probably in my attic :lol:
