Greetings and Merry Christmas from Birch Bay, WA

Post by earthworm73 » Mon Dec 24, 2012 10:34 am

Hi all. New to this forum but not brand new to growing palms and subtropicals. I am currently growing several different variates of palms and subtropicals. I live in Birch Bay, WA which is directly west across the sound from the palm growing "capital" of Canada Salt Spring Island, BC. I suspect only 20 miles separate the two locations. My house is a mostly zone 8b sometimes 9a. Looking forward to learning from yall on this board and making a few online friends.

Hi Earthworm!
Welcome aboard Palms North...and Merry Christmas!

Gosh...what I'd give for a zone 8

We love seeing members' plant photos...hint, hint. :D
And any seeds planned for a winter start.

Barb if I get some time today I'll post a few pics of my sad looking brood. Since it is winter of course the beds look pitiful. Some on my list are w. robusta and filifera, sabal minor 'Cape Hatteras', sabal Brazoria, s. 'Louisiana', s. palmetto, s. tamaulipas, t. fortunei 'Tesan', t. fortunei 'Bulgaria', t. 'Nainital', t. takil(?),lots of regular t. fortunei, t. latisectus, brahea armata, t. princeps, etc. Most are small seedlings, some are over 15 gallons and in the ground. Of course I plan on getting other palms such as jubaea c., needle palms and other trachy and sabal species. See no addiction here.
