-10 F/-23.4 C
But that was 60-year(at least!) extreme. Usually winter low is between 14 F/-10 C and 3F/-16 C
But there are 2 or 3 mild winters like historical 2006/2007, with low aprox. 23F/-5C. I am very curious if I had Basjoo in OG that winter, would it P-stem survive it with no protection?:))
I have automatic weather station 4 years already -enough experience to extrapolate "oficial" station's archive for last 15 years. Hope we will not see another extreme cold winter like this in the next 100 years(at least! :D )

Unprotected, the Musa basjoo would brown, freeze up, dehydrate and die to the ground if exposed to freezing temperatures for more than just a day or two.
Basjoo must be mulched or wrapped to save the pseudostem. Otherwise, the stem will regrow in the spring from the ground.

You have found some wonderful palms in your pictures.
