Just joined from Indiana

Post by Ronrostrata » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:32 pm

Hello all from southern Indiana !
Just found the site today & was very excited about joining - hope to learn alot from all the experts.
I really want to push my zone this year. We already have a new bed under construction with a 10" base of gravel, middle layer of a sandy mixture, and will top it off with river pebbles. Last year we had bananas, cannas, colocasias, castor beans, bladder pods, amaryllis. This year we are adding the "desert". Agave & yucca will be coming soon ! Have enjoyed the reading(the information is so valuable). Keep up the good work !
Ron

Welcome Ron! I'm also from southern Indiana (between Terre Haute and Bloomington) and I grow many of the same plants that you mentioned. I also started my own desert this year (http://www.palmsnorth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2634 for the build thread) Perhaps we can share some ideas since we're in the same general area. Best of luck!

Welcome, Ron!
I joined this forum last October and got great advice on overwintering.
I'll follow along as you ask for advice on your cactus.yucca/agave garden as I hope to build a bed like that, too.

Jova - I'm just about 20 miles the other side of Bloomington. Heading out to Louisville in the morning to check out some bananas & cannas. I will definately stay in touch. If I can figure out how to get some pixs on here......I'll do it !
