Hello from S. IL

Post by hatfam » Sun Feb 22, 2009 3:35 pm

It was suggested in another thread that I "pop" over and introduce myself. My name is Tom and I ive in Southern Illinois we are a zone 6, ( not that, that stops me). My wife and I bought a few plants for our deck last year, hibiscus, a couple of Majesty's, cycads and a banana. Since then, I have been bitten by "the BUG". We both dream of moving South when we retire, but I convinced her why wait. "Let's bring the south to us". At first I thought maybe I was the only "nut" but after a little google search, I found that there are more of "me" out there :D We now have 2 white BOP's that are 8' along with about 16 palm trees that range from seedlings to 2' tall. (I also ordered 6 more trees off this forum that I haven't told her about , maybe she wont notice) We also have 10 bananas. Our family room and a corner in the kitchen looks like a jungle/nursery. :) They all make fun of me fretting over the plants, misting 2 times a day, run the humidifier, rotate the plants under the grow lights and windows, etc, but I don't mind. I have looked at several web sites and forums, including this one , and have seen what can be done. Man, I can't wait for spring. So thats a little about me. I can't wait to get to know everyone.

Thanks
Tom
