Cool Barb. I found some leaf fossils from the Pennsylvanian period (300 MYA) in coastal Rhode Island. They are in my garden bed......cool stuff. Most of our rocks around here are igneous....there are a few pockets of sedimentary rock.....not much.

found some leaf fossils
That is exciting.
Were you able to ID the species?

Yup, igneous rocks don't have a lot of fossils
unless of course it's Satan's dog

Most of what used to be BC's sedimentary rocks/fossils (and topsoil for that matter) is now in Washington and Oregon States, thanks to the glaciers.
Damn!

Super cool!

Fossils are all over the place here, but I just find animals. I'd love to come across something like that.

No dinosaurs. :(

We get shallow marine invertebrates. OK was at the northern edge of the sea way back when.
Most common are crinoids (echinoderms); next are bivalves ("clams").
