Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Yes DZ it will be. I have had those last echinocereous in the ground for 4 yrs and finally getting blooms. While I was surprised by how hardy echinocactus horizonthalonius was. Gives me high hopes for all the new stuff. The mulched bed next to the house will go completely unprotected. Had a agave ovatifolia survive there while I lost americana and durangensis. Fingers crossed for the hybrids.

Love those red flowers!

Was the Graptopetalum out over winter?

Thanks Jay, the cacti have been doing really well. So I went and planted a ton more. Plus the tricho that broke in half is starting to bloom too.

Any plans to remove the mulch around those cacti etc, by the brick wall?

I have learned some things I would not have considered when I first started...
a little story,

I started the cactus bed by just dumping a pile of sand on the old Yew
trunk that I cut out which basically acted like a mulch over the ground...

I ended up digging out the whole thing(8x8') a foot and a half down
and filling with Limestone then sand,rock,soil/sand and more rock,
lots of fun digging around all the plants.

Jim, there is only enough mulch to cover the peagravel. And if the wind blows I have to go and put it back. So I am hoping it will not cause any problems. One great thing about this side of the house is snow and rain never blows up against it.
