Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

That Echinocereus triglochidiatus is really cool,

Really awesome specimens!

Poor little guy, hate to see that Aaron. Found one of mine looking like roadkill Monday, was kinda hoping it would stand up in spring. But I know that I am in denial and that it is just a mush pile too.

Ya...I don't think it will come back. The warmer it gets the more of a mush pile it becomes. That's ok, I had it for many years.

It has seen winters as cold as -12f or colder. Could have been weak from ants, disease, or old age. It's twin brother is also looking sad, but the other 2 look fine so far. :D

For me it always seems like plants are doing good until the weather warms and then mush begins.

Aaron, don't feel too badly. Sclerocactus turn to mush here during their first winter! If that doesn't kill them the next summer will, they can handle so much heat but, like Pediocactus, if you get hot, humid, days and nights (esp. nights above 20C), they'll boil and suffocate themselves to death. Lovely plants, Sclerocactus, but I've sworn off them... for now...

Aaron, any update on your echinocactus? I just recieved a 5 headed clump and can't wait to plant it. All I have read it is pretty hardy if kept dry?

Nice! Hardy if kept very dry. Mine is doing just fine, covered in the winter, on a mound and in a good gravel mix. You might need to watch for summer rains as well. I would like to find another one day, but because they are protected and no one grows them from seed, they very hard to get at a good price. :x

At a good price is right. Your's are looking great, mine has spines so long you can't see the cacti. When I build my new edition to the rock garden it will be about a 3' tall burme which will display cacti and agave on both sides. Should provide better drainage. Something I stole from PDN.
