Prickly pear fruit

Post by Barrie » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:10 pm

First photo's from a month ago of my Opuntia vulgaris that I originally got from Banana Joe (he got his pads from someone in Tennessee.
Today the same "tuna" dropped as it had ripened. It took a full year from the time it flowered last summer till now to mature. I tasted the fruit but is was quite mealy but pleasant, but too full of seed though. Humm ... anyone want any fresh seed from this big pad cacti?

Cheers, Barrie.
