Photos Yucca's in Northern Virginia ZONE 7

Post by VirginiaPalms » Thu Apr 03, 2014 7:02 am

I snapped some pictures while out doing some sales calls last year. I still have a hard time telling these things apart. I love to see them up here because they are an oddity and it's not quite warm enough to be yucca country. Love these plants!

I have a bunch more pics of local yuccas, I will post some more when I get a chance..

I noticed Tim posted a pic of a nice one that used to be in Fairfax,VA outside the animal shelter. Unfortunately they redid the building and that one is gone, it was pretty awesome.

My favorites are the aloifolias. There are good number of them in Virginia Beach, they are said to have once grown wild there but now are only found on the Outer Banks.

Those Rostratas do look good. Whoever planted them has done their homework with that banking mound. The Aloifolias look happy also. Struggling with mine somewhat here ... must be the evergreen rain

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Very nice looking yucca. Wish I could grow mine to height. Its rare to see them get that tall around here without falling over first. And this past winter rotted all our local aloifolia.

Chadec.... Was it the length of the freeze that killed them or low temperature or both??
