Potted Yucca protected with water pail

Post by TerdalFarm » Sat Dec 07, 2013 6:08 pm

On another thread, I described how I protected my Yucca rostrata last night. Figured I'd put it here.
Briefly, pulled it up close to the condo, under overhead cover and adjacent to a single-pane window. Set a pail of water (~12 liters) next to the pot, then used three towels to drape them. Overnight low was 8 oF (~13 oC); not sure what temp. was up close to building like this. But, the water in bucket was not frozen by morning.

Unfrozen water in the bucket shows your technique worked.

What a great specimen!
