It's winter again

Post by lucky1 » Mon Apr 29, 2013 8:59 am

No snow, but...

Temp dropped about 10-15 degrees.
Lightning and thunder at 5 a.m.
Hail.
3 days of horribly strong winds...good the dog was wearing a leash  or she'd blow away.

The little tent over the newly planted Brahea armata fell over, laying down the spear and fronds.
Probably a goner.

It's now 5C :verycold:

1-800-move south... :?

Barb

Nasty Barb!

That ugly low is supposed to churn down here by Thurs/Fri
with any luck this will be the last of its type and its evolution will
be for it to become a large spun out occluded low pressure system that drifts off to the
north(initially drifting south) and weakens, that is what they have done in past years but his has
been a strange year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see this pattern last all the way through summer
BUT we can hope that this is the end, should be an interesting one to watch either way!

Still time here to enjoy a few warm days though........

I'm speechless (for a change)
There was a weather forum post from a meteorologist that said the cold could last all the way through May.

Tim, your 34F is sooooo unusual for this time of year, I bet.

All I can say is Al Gore had better not stand in front of my car...

Much the same over here... had a frost last Saturday and down to 34F tonight. Clear skies and Northerlies or Northeasterlies. May promises much of the same.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Coming this way, too. Was upper 80s oF this afternoon, which the potted palms (all outdoors, some re-potted) loved. But back to the (upper) 30s oF later this week in mornings. No, NOT bringing anything back in. :x

Yeah, Tavi, you're finally warming up, good!

Erik, maybe tie an old blanket around the sensitive ones, including the root area.
I've done that a couple of times already
:x
And cardboard around others.

Aaron, we're f/cast to be -1C tonight.
I am soooooo fed up.

And tomorrow's May 1st

In my mind, I'm already there, Aaron.
Sure makes summer short when plants went into "protection" in September and April is killing them. :x

The heat next week may be too late.
Hope your stuff comes through unscathed.

Thats why I built a insulated greenhouse so hopefully I can garden 12 months of the year instead of just the summer months.
