Yo yo Winter

Post by andym » Sat Feb 16, 2013 3:16 pm

Been a bit of a strange Winter where I am. Started with whore frost or is it hoar? which lasted a week in early December. Then a really mild spell for three weeks but since then we have had yo -yo weather usually a week of cold followed by a week of mild. Going back into a cold spell next week with possible snow again next weekend. Forecast to be milder at the end of the month. No severe lows though -7C back in early December ...so I can't complain :D

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Not going to rush it here, looks like the eastern U.S. is locked in a
cold snowy pattern for a while with no real end in sight.........
at least not like last year when we quickly jumped from lows
in the single digits/snow(airport)and low teens-to the 70s and a week of
80s in March-we may be in for a slow pull out of winter temps this time...

hopefully something will break by at least mid March and release us from
the cold clutches of old man winter.....

Have some hope Jim! It does look like the next 2 weeks will be a big change. Up here snow means warm, and coupled with the cold dips, its in flux at the moment.

IF not, im hunting groundhogs.....

After last years quite literal non Summer with rain, rain, and more rain I'm hoping for an improvement this year. A summer like 1976 will do for a start a supposedly once in a hundred years Summer. :D

Two nights in a row with lowest minus 22 C.
That's cold for mid-February.
How much snow do you still have?

Maybe you'll have a warm March, Igor! :D

A lot of snow everywhere. But the cold is boring. Even during the day a temperature is about minus 10 C but it is more than plus 10 inside of unheated GH. While there was minus 22 C outside inside of the GH there was only minus 10 C. Quite Flagstaff or Albuquerque temperature

Not so fast with spring here. The beginning of March will be colder than February, meteorogists say. Hope they are wrong, as usually :D

I have plenty of hope but it doesn't keep the palms warm

I have watched our forecast go from 40s/50s a few weeks ago heading into the end of Feb
to maybe some 50s by mid March-thats what you get for looking at accuweathers long range forecast!

Anyway....when it breaks- it breaks-hopefully soon but it looks like some snow and cold with out a whole lot
of warming in the next few weeks-but hopefully all these storms are the beginning of the spring progression
and eventually they will pull north and bring the warmth with them-waiting and watching.....

It is still early though-I was looking at the date yesterday and thinking I need to lighten up-LOL
After all-it is only midish Feb!

Quite Flagstaff or Albuquerque temperature icon_lol.gif
Good for you Igor for finding a positive spin.
Once the snow is gone, you'll be able to hike and walk more comfortably.
I hate deep snow ... can never get outdoors.
thinking I need to lighten up-LOL
After all-it is only midish Feb!
...a sign you're getting older.
Then eventually you'll hate every week of winter
I used to wonder why "seniors" headed to Arizona every winter for 6 months.
Now I know.

You can stand only so many dark dreary cold days without going crazy.
And I can only stare at my palm seeds so long each day...
That's where beer comes in
Hope they are wrong
Probably a safe bet, marceli.
That will be a pleasant surprise.
