Maybe check to see that a cat or squirrel hasn't made a hole in the side?

Barb

PS--I think I'm using the wrong weather sticker for my area...it's -16.9C 1.6F now. :verycold:

We are " lucky 1S", no squirrels around here. It's kind of species that is not common here (has been introduced but failed). Minus 0,7C BTW. I think T down to minus 10 for Trachys is not mortal, is it?

Great pics Igor!
Thank goodness for the snow.
Everything looks nicely "tucked in".

We hit -21.6C (-7F) early this morning.
Haven't experienced temps that low in many years...BRRRRRR!
We're looking forward to Sunday when the Arctic front is expected to move to the East.
Good riddance.

Stay warm!

Igor,
at the end of January last year, the lowest had been -15oC or so and we thought we were done with winter. It was warm and humid then (strong south winds off Gulf of Mexico) and I was outdoors in short shirt.
First two weeks of February brought us our 2nd and 3rd blizzards in city history plus lowest lows ever recorded as arctic air blew south over a thick snow layer.
We then warmed amazingly the 3rd week of February. Rest of 2011 was astonishingly hot (hottest ever summer for any US state, ever, etc.).
So, my plan is to hold my breathe another month. Lowest low of the winter so far is not quite -10cC, which is astonishing warm for us, and nothing that cold in the extended forecast. We'll see. --Erik

new low, -25C in my yard, and -28C at the airport! Windchills at the airport are at -38C, less in my area due to the houses and trees helping to block the wind. Coldest day of the year for sure....

Still puts me in zone 5!!!!!

My town is at the south part of Kazakhstan. So it's better to ask people living upper at the North where the abs. minimum ever registered was minus 53C.

Trachycarpus usually laugh at those temperatures.

Can you throw some Christmas lights inside there just in case it gets colder?
