This year winter is coming in very soft way here in Poland.
As far I had minimum temperature at night about -6 C / 21.2 F - twice in November, on 11st and 23th
During the day - few days ago we have even +10 C / 50 F
Keep exoting!

Looks like it will dip below freezing in the next night or two here in some areas of California. Why some of my cycads are putting on new growth this time of year I don't know...

Coldest to date here in Toronto is...

Downtown= -1.2C (Nov. 21. 2011)
Airport= -4.3C (Dec. 3 2011)

My garden near K-town has not been so lucky:
Low to date (Airport): -9.1C (Nov. 22. 2011)

Needless to say these values will change pretty soon!

The worst thing about all this warmth here is that it is not preparing us for the onslaught of winter. I havent even wrapped any trachies yet!!!!

Maybe he won't. I just heard from a palm-o-phile who isn't on the forums, only FB, in Oklahoma City. He gets colder than sid and does minimal protection. I'll follow his palms this winter so I can vicariously enjoy the 'thrill' of keeping 'em in the ground.

so far 30 degress F at 38 degrees North and 34 degress North in CA where I have plants. Hopefully it won't dip too much lower than that as I have unprotected zone 10 plants in zone 9b.

New lows!
*Not yet official!

Airport: -6.7C
Downtown: -3.6C
(WOW does the open water really help to regulate the temperature!)

And, the garden near K-town 'only' hit -4C

First hard freeze downtown. I think the annuals will now be finished!

I got this night record of minimal temperature of the winter 2011: -7.5 C / 18.5 F but this winter as far - is very warm winter. It's rather strange for us. No snow, no freezy temperatures at most.
Keep exoting!

Wow , that's cold! Hope the rest of your winter is warm. Ours has been warm too. Even when we do get to freezing it is just for a day or two at night time. I knowit will get colder sooner, but this is crazy! I havent even wrapped my trachies yet, and I keepp opening up my banana lids so they get cool dry air.

Its been "warm" here so far as well. Nothing lower then -20C ( at the airport, I assume 3 - 5C warmer at my house). Sure compared to you guys thats fridgid, but for here its very "unusual" ( its i quotations because this type of weather seems to becoming the norm)..

Mike - According to environment canada, your area is going to have "balmy" temps until mid january. Even then it will be concidered " warm" for the winter. That is the same warm air mass that is keeping southern ontario nice so far.

*** I apologize the typos. My "n" and "x" keys arent working to well

Godfryd, same here in BC Canada, not too cold yet.

And Mike, you'll be able to jog on Christmas Day!!! :reindeer:

Jesse, sorry but -20C (-4F) is bloody cold...BRRR.
I always thought it'd be milder near a huge lake like your location.
We've got 2 inches of snow on the ground...forecast here is for a greenish Christmas. :?

But January can hit us hard if the jet stream drops south and allows another arctic blast to settle in. :evil:

Funny thing barb, the lake does keep us warmer in the winter. A half hour bike ride west or east, and the temp drops 5 - 10C in some places.
