Wow! You have me beat, and I thought it was hot down here.
I get up early and have everything in pots (+ animals) watered by 9 am.
There is standing water on the ground from all the rain we've had so I am not watering plants in the soil. Yet. Will likely have to with a few more days of this.
As for me, I put a window AC in the bedroom and take a siesta each afternoon (just got up).
Starting tomorrow, I'll get up at 5 am vs. just 6 am and keep that schedule for the foreseeable future.
Hang in there, Jim. --Erik

I have never seen these kind of dewpoints, even Jim Cantore on the weather channel
said there were dewpoints in Iowa near 90,he said he had never heard of that in his whole life.

I have seen it as high as 86F dewpoint here a half dozen times this year, never seen it that high before.

Over 21 days this season with dewpoints around 80F or more

Those are very tropical dew points you're getting, Jim.
Hard to believe, but I do  as they have been up there down here lately.
The standing water on the pastures combined with high temps would also convince any septics. It is hot and wet around here!

Jim,
I think it is just you and I here as everyone else is outdoors enjoying their palms! :)
Whereas for us we have to retreat from the heat.
I am in my garden until about 9 am when I've had enough until sunset.
Yesterday, my wife was off work and weeded for me in the afternoon. She had on her bikini and would weed for a while, then jump in the pool, then weed some more. The elderly man next door had the temerity to holler over the fence that she was "indecent"!
I was mad, for a lot of reasons. Including that now I'll have to do more of the weeding. :x
Anyway, the palms love the heat. Possibly not the Trachies, which seem to have stopped growing.
The big Sabal is growing well. As you predicted, the new leaves are different. Shorter petioles, presumably from now being in full sun. If I loose the old leaves over the winter, the overall height will be less next year but it will still be impressive.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Im right there with you guys on the ridiculous heat index. I don't have any numbers to post, but I can certainly say that I haven't felt heat this miserable in a long time. AC can't keep up at my store, and the minute you step outside it just feels gross, so humid that it almost makes you feel a little bit sick:) But hey, I'll still take this any day over snow and ice!

Remind me of that when we get snow and ice!
Anyway, crazy heat. Morning lows are setting daily records. Afternoons highs aren't breaking the records from 1936 ("Dust Bowl") but the higher lows are, from the greater humidity.
I have not watered palms yet as it is so darn hot. So far all I've done is dispose of the bodies of chickens that died of heat yesterday and worked on the electric fence in hopes of getting it working to keep goats out of the garden. --Erik

Definitely can't overwater in heat.

We have been on the northern fringe of the ring of fire here Erik, plentiful rain and heat.

Next weeks forecast is for(possibly)the warmest weather of the summer,
+101f - we'll see if that comes true,(weather)whether or not,it has been the warmest summer in quite a few years.

It will be interesting to see what this winter brings as it appears the sub-normal pattern of temps
the last few years has changed/up 8)

Over 100oF heat indices? Forget that. We're 103oF with regular heat. Heat index more like 120oF.
Swimming pool is about 95oF in the shade. So, only a little relief.
House is 89oF with AC on max.
And these are usual ugly numbers.
Remember this when I gloat in February....
