Brian Williams-NBC news...would they actually tell us about this?

Definitely a sobering statement here.

They have said lately that it will be further away than they thought but why can't that go the other way too?

I think if it hit the moon that could be a problem too....anyway,very interesting.

This will be the closest pass since they have tracked this kind of occurrence
and I am not convinced that,

A.they would tell us anyway and-

B.that everyone gets a 100% in math all the time.

C.do they really know for sure exactly how earths/moons gravity will effect this?

Anyway-I thought it was interesting........

Yup, thanks, Jim.
I think. :?

And just think of the other unknowns...how the meteorite over Russia, and this asteroid passing so closely will affect weather/jet streams.
The weather implications could be massive.
And for a long time.

Plus, can those events speed up/slow down the magnetic pole shifts?

Glad I'm not a scientist...would probably be scarier knowing.

Igor

Weather.com had a great compilation of different views of the meteor-absolutely amazing that it shaded some areas
and the flash was brighter than the sun as well-imagine being in an office or not seeing it right away-what a shock!

Heres another good one

the booms were amazing..... I honestly never thought i would see this in my lifetime.

I guess they didnt think that there would be smaller debris with it, probably from the meteor itself, or something it kicked up in orbit.... Either way, when Apophis comes, well have to be more aware of the fact it may bring along some friends...

Re:pole shift

IT takes thousands or tens of thousand of years for this to happen. I know earthquakes can effect the axis of the planet, and so can large impact events. It just might do something to the magnetic feild as well.

What I thought was cool in that last link is...that you go from shadows too brighter than the sun back to shadows.

I promise if you saw that happening out your window it would completely freak you out!

I remember seeing the Russian satellite that burned up upon entering the atmosphere
(at night)during the late 80s/early 90s,it was on such a grand scale that it took my eyes a
few seconds to even focus on what they were seeing-imagine seeing half a dozen or more
lights brighter than that Russian meteor of Feb 15th,2013 crossing about a third of the sky
at once and you have a general idea of the scale of it-most amazing thing I have ever seen....

....so far 8)
