Rice Road GH offer winter storage

Post by lucky1 » Thu Oct 11, 2012 9:51 am

Very impressed!

Too bad no nurseries in British Columbia have caught onto this money-making ($100 minimum) idea.

Palm tree winter storage (see page 8:)

Now that's customer service!

I went there a few weeks back to see the plants people are paying to be kept for the winter. Sorry no photos.
Lots of sagos and you rostratas of all sizes. A very large triangle, queen, king palm and some trachy of many sizes. They had for sale some bismarkias, were 249 probably less now about five foot tall oa. And some Cocos nucifera coconut palm with maybe two foot of trunk I think we're 199 maybe less now. Other than the large specimens I mentioned, I was impressed with someone's date palm in a 15 gallon and a monkey puzzle that was about six foot tall above its pot.
My overall thought is that most of these could have been planted outside and protected. But that is not everybody 's bag. Nice to see.
I would be worried about bug sharing and cross contamination. Oh there were nice trunked y faxonianas too.

Adam, good to hear people are using the service.
bug sharing and cross contamination.
Yeah, good point.
But beats jamming them into too-small and dark rooms.

Any idea what they charge?

Please take your camera next time you're out that way.

Certainly worth it for a prize specimen.

And helps to pay their GH heat bills.

Win-win.
