ung... thats the funny thing Eric, if we scientists dont say "GET THE HELL OUTTA THE WAY" before a huge earthquake, people have a shit fit. But when they are like "ok a giant hurricaine is comming, GTF out of the way", and no one does and they get hammered (sortve like katrina), then they bitch about them not gettiing warning..

ITs a huge double standard as far as Im concerned. And very unfortunate to the scientists who are TRYING to warn people and save lives.

Well your not supposed to scare people...
but once it's happened it's o.k. because they are already scared.

a criminal trial that started this week in Italy.
Those poor beggars! I hope the case gets thrown out of court.
Just society's "litigous nature" spreading all over the globe.
Seems people feel better if there's somebody to blame for stuff that's been happening since time immemorial.

Now, Al Gore....ahem.
I won't say it

Mr. Gore is safe: he has warned everybody about everything by now. No matter what happens he can say, "see, I told you!"

The movie was alright, but alot of it was presumed, and there has been lots of critics stating the holes in what he is saying (not saying climate change isnt happening)

And didnt you hear? Its global COOLING now! We are entering a new ice age! Now I can make the stereotype proper, have me an igloo, some sled dogs and a pet polar bear! / end sarcasm

Simple answer, stop messing with nature, and we wouldnt have to worry about this nearly as much.

Lots of activity lately it seems.

Last night a really shallow EQ only 1 km deep (gulp) but magnitude of only 1.7 just southwest of my place.
So small it doesn't show up on the <2.0 map.

2 big EQs British Columbia...no damage

Post by lucky1 » Tue Oct 30, 2012 8:47 am

Fortunately deep and not under a city.
The first one on Saturday night, a 7.7, was the second largest since 1949 when the same area had an 8.1.

Tsunami warnings for Hawaii were cancelled as only medium (5 foot) waves hit Maui.

Depends on the data yo read barb. At this rate, even if we move north, it might be better off for us.

Hi Barb,

I just received an email from the USDA Hardiness people who stated your gardening zone just changed from zone 5b to 5a since your tectonic plate just moved north.
