Florida!

Post by TerdalFarm » Mon Aug 22, 2022 1:52 pm

Sorry for the years of not posting. A few years ago I retired from my job in Oklahoma and we moved to Florida.

I drove (!) my cold-hardy palms to Oregon, where my mother has a cabin on a south-facing slope near the Pacific. They are doing great, especially the waggies. The shaving brush palm had a tough winter but did not die. I'll share photos soon.

Here in Florida, we are on the Gulf coast south of Tampa. The house came withthree clumps of Phoenix robellini and a tall queen palm. I've added a Yellow Dwarf Coconut palm. It had a challenge last winter when air temps got into the upper 20s oF but is growing well now. Hope for flowering in a year or two. Has about five feet of trunk.
