O/T Pineapple's progress

Post by hardyjim » Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:00 pm

Almost the size of the store bought ones now...this
plant produced an off shoot bigger than it,has another
shoot on the side and of course a new plant on the P-apple
itself.
I would guess that next year the off shoot will be fruiting...
I think the real key is making sure it gets pollinated outside
as each little chamber has its own fruit pouch that all grow
into a large fruit,it has been a real joy to experience the process!

Each flower is an individual fruit...

I had no idea when I planted this it would even work...
for some reason,I thought you needed some fruit left under
the portion you cut and plant, not so,just the green part
is needed and you can even see little roots sometimes
once the fruit is gone.

Thanks for looking

Hello Jim... fancy meeting you on here  This forum seems very quiet than it used to be. Has everyone gone on social media?
BTW thanks for that interesting information on your pineapple growing :D

Great success with that pineapple! I'll try that, once I get settled in Florida.

Short term, Orlando. That is where W moved last year. Longer-term, I like the Gulf Coast. Far enough south where Cocos grow. :-)
