Strange bug on Foxtail seedling

Doesn't seem to be chewing on the palm.
Anybody know what it is....er.....was?

Boxelder bug.

They don't really eat plants.

I think Jim nailed it with a Box Elder Bug.

One of the few things around here that doesn't seem to be eating anything green, although they did hang around on the new Cycas debaoensis growth.
Didn't seem to do any damage though.

They're all over the vinyl siding on the south side of the house...yuk, they're so gross.
Sometimes 20 or 30 of them all tucked together getting warm I guess.
Then they move away so they don't fry when the sun comes up.
