Kirk says Craigslist has FREE PLANTS

Post by lucky1 » Tue May 18, 2010 4:28 pm

Hi Kirk,
Your comment about free plants is so important it deserves its own topic.

Will look forward to hear what people have discovered on CRAIGSLIST.
Thanks for the tip!

Barb

My wife is way into Craigslist lately.
Yesterday we bought a broken hot tub/spa. Hmmm...not sure if it was a good deal even if nearly free.
Intrigued by your thread, I did a quick search and sure enough, there are people giving away plants that are over growing their yards.
Here is a copy and paste of an example from someone with irises that needed thinning, with the update in ALL CAPS at the top to give you a sense of the response the poster got...

DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO THIS AD I CAN NOT HELP EVERYONE.
I HAVE BEEN HIT WITH SO MANY REQUEST THAT I CAN HELP EVERYONE. I AM SORRY.
THE WEATHER HAS NOT ALLOWED ME TO DIG UP THE FLOWERS SO NO ONE IS GETTING ANYTHING UNTIL IT CLEARS UP.
I WILL NOT TRAVEL TO MET ANYONE WITH THE FREE ITEMS SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO ANYMORE.

I have numerous Iris plants and need to thin them out.
They are a very large white Iris.
The Iris is a very hardy plant that will grow almost anywhere and needs no extra attention.

I will wait to pull them until you and I can get together but they are fine just waiting in a paper bag if needed.

after the weather clears

It sure is a good way to find stuff if your patient. I've seen some real nice plant material on there over the years.

Bill
