Thanks Mike and Barb.

The big ones sure do make it scary during severe weather. I never know if they gonna survive or not.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

<a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chade ... 4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... 090304.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150530_090304.jpg"/></a>

Removed a tree to allow for sun light on the bed.
<a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chade ... 8.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... 091148.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150530_091148.jpg"/></a>

This salimiana has already doubled in size since planting in Feb.
<a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chade ... 8.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... 091038.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150530_091038.jpg"/></a>

These beds are raised 4" off the ground. Not everything is hardy so I am testing the microclimate.

IN THE EVENT OF DISASTER

Post by hardyjim » Sat May 30, 2015 4:48 pm

IN THE EVENT OF DISASTER-amass Agave for food/nectar.

nevermind Chad you have it covered 8)

Really nice collection and we get to call
that Montana hardy now since you had the
sense to wait and give it a chance....
I am guessing you still have plenty of room
so it was never in danger of its spot being recycled :D

I know sometimes I almost dare some of my plants
to kark it cuz there is a special replacement waiting...
:salute: :salute:

Garden looks great-hows the Black Thai doing this year?

Jim, that damn black Thai did great all winter and laid down as soon as I put it in the ground. It is planted between the cannas and the brugsmania.

Besides, your right I have 3 more agave montana ready to go. And soooo many more that just dont have a home yet. Some are too special, like these.
Agave impressa, victoria reginea white rhino, albopilosa, pilona, cubic.
<a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chade ... 5.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... 081815.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150531_081815.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chade ... 3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc3 ... 081853.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150531_081853.jpg"/></a>

Most of these just need a home.

Added a new aloe to the test bed today. Agave colorata does not appear to handle the sun very well.
Sorry I know some of the pics are fuzzy.

Not sure about my ovatifolia variegata, but since I have an extra now I would like to try one in the ground.

This is a "cool" picture...it shows the plant pulling its sugars/carbs back into
the center to protect the growth point -whilst the more narrow and obviously
much quicker to freeze leaf points take a hit from the cold.

Yeah, I was expecting to lose all those outer leaves. But was completely surprised when the meristem rotted out. Specially considering how mesic Montana is compared to others. I will have to hardened it off this winter.
