Sierra Vista AZ -2f
A winter burnt Dasylirion wheelerii? Strange to see one with winter burn in that country? May be strees from something else?

Aaargh!
But, as consolation, did you spot the 2 or 3 fabulous yuccas (and spent blooms) in front of the blue jeep?

You and I put on a lot of street-miles in winter, don't we Aaron?
I was recently in Nice, France...wow the palms there!!!!

Butia capitata, looks like it's taking longer to recover.

I have seen these in cold weather and they seem to take the cold better than phoenix sp, but after -2f might be a bit slower to grow back. :)

DAAAAAAAAAAAAA. icon_biggrin.gif

Now try to find those plants again.
You're funny, Tim, attaboy!

And yes, Tim, I saw the 2 dead Washies across the street...too bad, they were huge.

Aaron's 2 earlier examples of Butia capitata I think are stone dead.
How sad to see so much carnage.

But then again, who's gonna protect a 20 foot tall palm tree?

2011 map view of El Paso,
-5f and much colder than southern AZ, 3 days below freezing and yes some palms survived!

Tim what yucca is this? (could be schottii?) So far this street is the only one I found with the 2011 date.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
