Suggestions for ranks for the forum

Post by Jay-Admin » Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:09 pm

Hey everyone,

I need your input on what rankings should appear under your avatar for the amount of posts you make. I currently have seed, seedling and small palm. Just let me know what the next ranks should be or what you would like them to be. Of course this is if anyone cares.

Regards,
Jay

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

 Jay, I have a Question, off topic. If the forum is about northern palms, why do we display las vegas weather? wouldn't Chicago or Boston be more fitting?

I can't speak for Jay, but I think it is nice becuase we can compare our northern weather with a place that grows many kinds of palms and sub-tropical plants. I find it interesting how cold it can get there on some winter days. I use it as a tool? :)

And to make everyone else pleased with their weather you could post Edmonton's temperature. :?

Aaron, Those sound good. I think we should use them. :D

nucci60, I put Vegas up there mostly for comparison and the fact that i think that place rocks. :headbang:

I'll try to add Boston and Edmonton. I have a new thing for displaying the weather that i'm working on. :)

Jay

Jay,

The more cities/towns the better..that way we can get an idea as to who is getting what type of weather...ie: from Boise to Boston...

Very cool Jay it should bring more interest to the site. You should call it the temp ticker. :)

The last week of December and the first 2 weeks of January are generally the worst. 20 years ago we normally would be around -30C through the whole period. It has been nicer in the past 5 years with generally erratic weather through the winter. We have been getting -30C 4 or 5 times per year. It can come in any month from November through the beginning of March. I am originally from NW Alberta (Zone 2a -45C) and Edmonton seems warm still. That said, I'd still love to be in the Okanagan or southern Idaho.

Quanity vs quality

"rankings should appear under your avatar for the amount of posts you make."

Does the number of posts you make have any true bearing on your ranking?
What is "ranking" and it's meaning on this forum :?:

Cheers, Barrie.

Well the higher your posts the higher your rank is and that means at the end of the year the person with the highest posts wins either a trachy with ten feet of trunk or a 30 gallon sabal minor palm. I'm just kidding.

Ranking is just the title under your username you get for the amount of posts you make. It really has no meaning. Just for fun i guess. :)

Jay

Just like everything else in life I am working my way up the ladder. I can hardly wait until I become a sprout. Please no sprout jokes.
