Palm trees Nov Dec 2016

Post by Okanagan desert-palms » Sat Dec 31, 2016 2:37 pm

Update on palms winter 2016. I Can`t believe it`s been 9 years since they have been planted. I still remember most people telling me I was throwing my money away by planting palm trees here. Quote" You do realize John palm trees don`t grow here right". Well they grow for me!

Looks great...I like enclosures where you can
still see the palms,very cool.

How do they hold up to the wind?
We had 45mph winds out of the west
here that nearly worked the plastic off the cactus enclosure.

Hi Jim. The enclosures are attached to posts I have driven into the ground. The Plastic is stapled to 2"X2" wood frame. I`m glad we don`t get 45mph winds here during winter. Thanks for your comments

Thats awesome that it doesn't get that windy...
much easier to take winter!

I would like to use covers like that but it so dang
cold at night sometimes...maybe if I do this again
I can get a little more dialed in on the leaf hardiness
and do something like that..nice.
