Just bought one myself this summer and is in the ground.

I think I got that off e-bay in 2009
as a single plant,probably planted 2 years
later in 2011-you know, you gotta have credit
to get credit,hehee...meaning,you know how
it is with these Trachys once they get some size
they start to get some size...faster.

Anyway, mine has really broke out this summer,
they are really interesting palms and at the size
mine is now,it reminds me of a WagxFort, more then
some of the WagxFort crosses do.

Similar cold tolerance though? Hope mine looks as good as yours does in a few years.

I think it is really hard to gauge cold hardiness of
young palms, that said,it has been extremely tough.
Probably need about 3' of trunk to see the real hardiness
of some of these Trachys,it will be interesting to see how it
does against Tesan,Takil,Wagnerianus,Fortunei and Nainital...
possibly also Manipur.

Thanks for sharing Jim, great pics as usual.

Agave question... do you leave the pups in the ground over winter, or do you cut them away to pot them up.

My larger Blue Amerc. was overwintered fine, but the pups Im concerned about. Your thoughts.

Cheers

My Americana gets dug up every fall.
All the other pups on the porch railing are
mostly baby Mediopicta Alba, there are a couple
pups from the cactus bed of Havardiana and Parryi . :)

Very nice Jim, everything looks great. I suspect that agave havardiana will be in bloom before too long.

Funny you mention that...I often look
to see if there are any branches launching
out of the "gills"... :P

I had to take a second look. When my agave desmettiana bolted the meristem actually drew in before the inflo emerged.

Jim, I brought a new trachy home this week. Since it was b&b my plan was to keep it in a 30 gallon pot over winter, cause I feel its too late to plant. Do you agree?

You could plant it now,it might need a little help
if it gets really cold-I planted one in Nov & another in Dec
along with the big Havardiana and Parryi.
