Thought it would be fun to post pics and share what we all do to make it through the long winter and the lengths we go through to keep our palms healthy and happy over the winter.

Nice snow fall last night made for some perfect snow to gather in 5 gallon buckets to use for watering. Had to do it early before I let the dogs out and "ruined" the snow.

Yes, we've sacrificed TWO bathtubs for the sake of palms. In the Jacuzzi tub couple of Cat palms got on close out at Lowes for $2 each. Majesty palm saved last year for $2 a Silver Lady fern in Red Pot and Australian Tree Fern. I can at least keep some water in tub for humidity.

Dog's room that doubles as a overwintering room for Eneste Banana's and other tropicals as well as seedling greenhouse.

Well today is palm watering day, and the jugs of water I've been keeping in tub got cold with the buckets of snow I have in there melting down, so the jugs are too cold to use water at that temp, so having to microwave each 16 oz cup of water I'm giving them so it's lukewarm and not cold.

I get to travel locally in my job and found this strip mall in Lincoln, Nebraska called "The Oasis" and had a line up of these palm trees out front. Nice to see "palm fever" catching on even in obscure ways....

I think palms like that make people up north think palms are tacky.
