Just for fun opinion.

If it was very cheap would you buy a place like this just because of the palmtree. Every time I run across this pic I think it would fun to have that place. It bugs me to see this palm abandoned.
PS and if the area was safe.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

depends on your definition of cheap. :-) I would love a place in the florida keys but just the thought of maintenance when I live 1500 miles away just doesn't seem in the cards anytime soon.

Cheap enough not worry about the cost.

But sense you brought up the distance and maintenance, that would play a big part of it. Be hard to clean up something like that it a week or two.
Of cource the desert areas would be easier to maintain.

Well, I see electricity and a TV antenna, so hopefully water and sewer/or septic field are also installed.
Looks like a highway out front? edge of a town? acreage?
Lots of healthy looking (green) trees/shrubs around so maybe palm is OK, just shows damage from last winter's cold.

Tough question.
Likely "no".
...even for the palm.

I'll say no, but it is a great palm.

Water and septic, in a small town, on the highway, lot about about 150ftx150ft.

Palm is ok, but went for 6 months with no precip/water and 0f winter.

I would also have to say no, not because of the beat up house, but because there was no for sale sign and it had a abandoned car out front that would be a pain to get ride of where as I live so far away. :)

This house is right across the street from the the sheriff's office, local fire department, and a park.

Think I'd still pass...all those sirens

Some for the view, but mainly becuase of the palm in the yard. I would clean-up the lot tear down the fence. repair the little house and paint it (use it for storage) pour a cement pad for a rv spot (there was a trailer once) with hook ups, plant a bunch of cactus and palms. I think I could do it all for about 3000 bucks. Nice to have the park arcoss the street, and police. The park looks rough but is nice for AZ. I don't think a person would hear the fire trucks much vcery small town, I was talking to them when the got a call and did not use there sirens until they hit the road.
Realy not my cup of tea, I would like to be out in the country, but could be a nice lot for an rv with a big palm. But yes this is the wildwest.

Right on, I wonder how that palm looks now? Sense then they have had about 10 inches of rain. :D

Anyone else every see a place they think might be fun to own just because of a palmtree(s)? An empty lot with big palms or a old shack in a jungle?
I also seen a place in southern Cal. that was empty but had many robustas, cidp's and huge pumpas grass on it. I wish I had a pic.

I can't help myself when I'm on the web looking at places for sale in Florida or Hawaii I think first about the palms or plants on the place. Might just be me? Or do others think "wow" those are some nice palms I wonder what the house looks like.

I did not want this thread to be fix on the one pic, it was just an example of one that gave me a quick thought. So I will try this again, just for fun would you by a place just becuase of the palms it had on it? I hope I phrazed that better. :D

I get what you mean, Aaron.

I love this row of palms on the street.
House looks OK too.

But not enough elbow room for planting more stuff.
Needs more land around it.

Here is one that I would never have thought twice about, but got me thinking when it was for sale because of the 2 big palms.

I talked to the home owners and they said the selling point was the palms.

Cute little house too, Aaron.
But not enough space for more palm, yucca and agave plantings :P

Here's some space in San Luis Obispo...if you do a 180-degree turn, there's a red Corvette parked across the street (not the other red thing) :D

...knowing how you love Corvettes.

EDIT: SCRATCH THAT LAST SUGGESTION:
