Boots on Sabal Palmetto

Post by Rubtherock » Tue Jul 28, 2009 3:08 pm

Isn't it logical that boots left on palms give them added winter protection? Just curious why in marginal zone 7 most of the landscape supply companies in this area sell them de-booted. What everyone's take on how much added protection boots left on help the hardiness of Palms in general.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I'd leave the boots on also, but then again, I cover all my outdoor stuff in winter. With the boots on, they will capture and store cold rain, ice and snow against the crown shaft. Depends on how nasty your winters can be.
