Here are some shots from late April and early May-

Cactus Garden-at last count,I think about 15 cacti with flowers or buds, should be a good show!
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09017.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09017.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09014.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09014.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09013.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09013.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

First ice plant flower
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09012.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09012.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I highly reccomend this Varigated Iris, the fragrance is unbelievable!
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09004.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09004.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

New Siam Ruby,I will post some more pics when it shows it's true colors
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09017.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09017.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Y.gloriosa
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09003.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09003.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Blue form of Y.parryi
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09007.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And,the come back kids,my Sequoia was completely defoliated and looked dead from -18F and 50-60 below wind chills this winter but is coming back, the question is how much will it grow this season!
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09019.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09019.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This Sequoia was protected with a foam rose cover,so,not the cold as much as the wind chill that got my other one-
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09020.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09020.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Mazari is crispy but is pushing up some green,so,still alive!
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09015.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09015.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Next 2 palms had spear pull in Nov and somehow made it through the winter!,first is a Wag/fort second is Naini Tal
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09007.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09005.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... -09005.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Great stuff and good job over the winter!

Your Echinocereus viridiflora is blooming already? AND it's clustering!!! Wow. I love the look of that plant, I will absolutely have to get another.

I like that 'blue' Agave parryi, though I have to say that the one in my avatar looks blue and yours has a purple tint to it!

Thanks Paul,I think the purple color was caused by the sun and cold, maybe also because it's young.
I sure am going to enjoy watching this stuff grow this season, esp since I feel like I can get it through the winter!

Your Mazari undoubtely recover. (My Silver was rotted and green is very weak but alive).
What Agave do you think is the most frost-hardy?

Jim nice to see everything doing so well. I was going to plant my only Mazari 3 gal palm but they seem to be overated as far as cold hardiness. It will stay in a pot for a few more years at least.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Nice job Jim!!!

Looks like all your hard work paid off, which is always a nice thing to see. In your first picture did the banana's in the background stay out or did they come from the house? Regardless with some 80 degree days they'll take off nicely from that size.

I'm kinda nervious to ask how you washies did? Since I just bought 3 gigantic one's this spring and didn't see them in the photo's. I hope they did ok, if so they will reward you with serious growth this year.

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted with new editions!!!

Bill

The bananas were brought inside and planted back out mid April, most have put out 2 leaves already, way ahead of last year, they should be going ,well, bananas soon  .
The Washys made it but it has been pretty cool so far, with 80s forcast this week they should break loose,I didn't put in any pics because aside from turning from yellow to green(which is good)they have not done much,I am sure that will change soon-Here they are-3 weeks ago

Great, Jim, that everything's pulled through so well.
Your hard work did pay off.

Beautiful flowers, love that parryi!!!!!, glad spear pulls weren't fatal.
The good weather obviously gave them an early start.

The Sequoia is a real success story, glad you didn't give up!

I'm always suprised to see how similar your Manipur is to my Nainital.
Glad your Nainital is recovering.

You can be very proud of what you accomplished this winter...my hat's off to you!
