Nice warm weather over here
At last after six miserable summers we are experiencing a Mediterranean Summer. I hit a top temperature of 31C /88F last Saturday. No rain for the foreseeable future... amazing  The one downside to this lubbly Jubbly weather is major leaf burn on many of my of my Schefflera plants. I hope you ...

Jesse... Personally I would not plant out until the plant has developed a strong rootstock and at least 2-3ft of stem as mine was when I bought it. Mine was also fed well which encouraged the large leaves but also helped the plant to grow quickly. Winter wise we are worlds apart as my minimum temp t...

Seems to do well in my cool climate.... grew around 4ft of growth last year. Currently starting to produce the big leaves but no flowers yet. I am growing it in imported sandy slightly acid soil which it seems to like. I have also planted out a small Magnolia Macrophylla and it has not even leafed y...

I see that Jet stream has been playing tricks again. ABC news reporting deep snow in the Northeast of America and floods further inland. Anyone affected?

Great looking plants. I went to London last year for the first time and was very surprised at the number of yuccas and even palms that were in the city. I saw many of the trunking variety as you pictured in small parks or in the gardens and yards of homes in Mayfair and Kensington. I live in the Gr...

Thanks for your comments Tim..... Most Yuccas will flower here.... eventually. I don't believe Nolinas are any different but I don't of any that have yet Igor... We do get sunshine now and again and Yuccas seem to grow reasonably well despite the poorer light levels. However rain is a problem and tr...

Another Nolina sold as Matapensis
I absolutely adore these plants and have four separate seed grown species currently growing in the garden. Today after a lot of hassle and a six week wait the Nolina arrived. Sadly (for me that is) there has been a bit of leaf damage both physical and weather wise. Talking with Paul Spraklin our loc...

Yucca Elata.... didn't expect this....
The trunked multi headed Yucca Elata came in a huge pot. Rather disappointingly the pot was filled with 50%perlite and 50% peat compost. My guestimate is this Yucca has been in this pot for at least two years. It came out easily without damage to the roots http://s17.postimg.org/9t5gb5qsr/IMG_0742.j...

Big Rostrata's home with a nice sized Supa Nova
I popped down to HardyPalms in Bristol yesterday. It was to pay for my Yuccas. Nigel the owner was quite adamant that the Yucca Rostrata would be better off in my Vauxhall Astra than being shipped on a pallet. Amazingly I got it home. Nigel had also just received a container load of Palms fr...

Tim .... mine have all survived the Winter unprotected. To be honest I would be more worried about the length of the roots as for one dead plant above ground produced 10 new shoots from its roots in my garden. Still a beautiful foliage plant though and I just missed out on flowers opening last year.

Here's a plant I like to rave about. I always plant it along with my Ensetes,Musas and other annuals Its great to see the leaves get bigger and bigger as the season goes on.
