Yucca glauca RARE TREE FORM PLAINS YUCCA?

Hi Guys and Gals, What do you think about this? Seller on Ebay claims to have seeds for a trunking yucca glauca. Didn't think there was such a thing, although given their wide distribution-north to south over North America (Alberta-Texas)-I was thinking perhaps a southern variation of the species ma...

That's amazing! You're definitely re-writing the book on the cold J-Trees are capable of withstanding! Nice work!

I think your summer heat goes a long way to helping the plants in the worst of the winter.

What have your minimums been so far this fall/winter? Aaron, no protection yet for the brevifolias (if you ever do)?

I just love those J-Trees all frosted up!

Thanks!

Hi Jim,

You're out idling your car at 36f? Is this because you consider 36f cold, or because you're attempting to raise the level of greenhouses gasses in our atmosphere to quicken global warming-or both!?

interesting zone evidence for Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg

I know it is a constant source of frustration for many here to have their respective USDA garden zones mis-categorized by their local nurseries. I know this is the case for me in Calgary, where we are largely regarded as 3a, even though our climate data clearly shows we're on the warm side of 4a for...

Calgary International Airport (one of the coldest damn places in the civilized world):

Let's say -25 C for me in Southwest Calgary, about 20 miles from the airport.

No problem, balmy!!! 8)

I think you have a pure j-tree in the pic. Leaves on young j-trees and seedlings are long and soft compared to older ones. It also takes about 3-5 years from seed for them to start a nice trunk. Becareful with the fertilizer, this can make a faster growing trunk but skinny and weak. Thanks Aaron! P...
