Sorry, I had it listed as "private" on my Flickr. Let's see if I fixed it. Wind won't hurt it. Wind may cause mechanical damage to the leaflets and cause the droop. Purely cosmetic though. Continuous cold winds can dessicate the fronds I suppose, but you're not leaving it out long enough f...

Good advice from everybody!
I looked and think I found the fabled wichita minors using your info, on Google streetview! Is it a Nazarene church?

Yes mulch is beneficial. It insulates the roots from heat and cold, plus helps prevent evaporative losses.

Welcome! Yes the trachy will be ok during most winters, with some form of protection. The butia will make a nice potted palm you can bring out in warm weather and put up in cold. They're are probably the hardiest pinnate palm, but still far lacking in hardiness than a hardy fan palm. Note that I am ...

Looks pretty bad...freeze-dried from winter winds, I would say. The damage could have occurred weeks ago but if you're just now experiencing a thaw, then that could explain why the damage is just now showing. But, like Jim and Barb stated previously, it's too hard to tell what caused the damage at t...

You're welcome. Seems it's never the plant that we want to be the most hardy, that truly is. LOL I've never tried rooting gloriosa but in the spring I may. My big gloriosa has three heads that all bloomed, and if they're planning on dividing three more ways, well, let's just say Hercules may have to...

Looks great. "Silver" med fans must be popular in the trade right now . I just saw a ton of them in Ft Worth at a really cool nursery. The guy said hardy to 5F, think that's a huge stretch myself. Maybe out of the wind, bone-dry 5F.

Pic 2-5 is definately a trachycarpus

Pic 6-8 Looks vicious. Need a frond or full shot of the palm, thorns don't look right for a Phoenix. Looks like another Livistonia. Did your pix get out of order?
